Our groundbreaking UK and
Ireland tour, recorded in Manchester.
This CD is a selection of songs from our 2003 touring production, ‘Tying the Knot’. When we put this show together, partnership rights for gay and lesbian couples were the big issues here in the UK, and it seemed the perfect time to do something that reflected this.
We chose songs that dealt with various aspects of the process of partnership, from dating and starting out, to living together long-term, and also included conflict and breaking up.
Most songs come from great theatrical musicals, so we’ve called this collection ‘Showtime’. This was recorded live, and includes the atmospheric extraneous noises that make a live performance what it is – including the dancers’ dainty feet!
Some say “love makes the world go round”, and during a few frantic months of 2003, our show did the rounds of The Stables Theatre in Wavendon, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, The National Concert Hall in Dublin, Theatre Royal in Brighton, and at the The Library Theatre in Manchester, from where this recording was made.
